If you're curious, you should look up the history of this character. The roots of Winnie the Pooh are based on a real bear, Winnipeg Bear (Winnie for short) who was brought to London during the first World War by a Canadian soldier. The bear was very tame and friendly and, when the soldier's unit was deployed to Europe, the bear stayed at the London Zoo.
Winnie proved to be a massive draw because she was so tame. Yes, the real Winnie was a girl! So tame that children could be inside the enclosure with her and feed her treats. One such child was Christopher Milne who, if you put two-and-two together, is the son of A.A. Milne, the author of Winnie the Pooh. Both the original real bear and the fictional one based on her remain, to this day, a pretty incredible legacy.
Happy birthday Winnie.
